Adding Special Media Files
In addition to the general multimedia file formats mentioned in
the previous section, the WCM 6 Pro also supports special media
types including Real Time Video (a real-time data feed), TV Tuner
signal, Executable Application (.exe) and Remote (media URL) .
- Click
, a
dropdown menu will open to select the media type to add.
- After adding a special media file, a thumbnail is
displayed and the media attributes will be shown in the right
panel.
Adding a Website as Media File
You can create a zone in a Playlist to run a website as media content.
- In the Media tab, choose “Remote” under Special Media dropdown menu.

- A media thumbnail will be created with “Remote” as default media name.

- Input the website URL in the right attribute panel – Remote URL as shown below:

- Change the Name and Save it.
- Now you can add this media to a playlist.
Note: The default refresh time of the URL is 30 minutes. To change the default refresh interval, please find the “DTMP.conf” file from %appdata%.../config, search for "RemoteRefreshIntervalSecond", and change the value to the preferred refresh time interval (the default value is 1800 seconds).
Note: If duration of the zone is shorter than 1800 seconds, the URL will be refreshed according to the zone duration.
Adding an Executable Application (.exe) as Media File
- Click
and choose Executable Application to add a new media file. A thumbnail will be created as shown below.

- Change the file name, set media duration, select a path of the Executable application on the player and specify the file name in the Parameter field.
- Save the media for using in a Playlist.
Example of showing an Excel file:
- Install Microsoft® Excel or Excel Viewer on the signage player.
- Save the excel file to a specified path on the player. E.g. :C:\.
- Create a new EXE media file.
- Input the path of application in the “Path” field, input the path of excel file name in the “Parameter” field as shown below.

Note: If the path of the excel file has a space in the name or folder, you need add “ ” in the beginning and the end as shown below.

- Put the exe media in the playlist as shown below:

- If it’s required to show the mouse cursor to scroll the file up and down, check the “Show Cursor” option in “Playlist Settings” dialog.

- Click OK and Save the playlist.
